65 years ago today, on April 15, 1947 Jackie Robinson first put on his Brooklyn Dodger #42 and broke Major League Baseball’s “color line” . That season he earned baseball’s first Rookie of the Year Award, batting .297 and leading the National League in stolen bases with 29. Robinson set the standard for others to follow.
